Medicare leads come from people aging into Medicare and from current beneficiaries reviewing their coverage. Turning-65 consumers are often overwhelmed by mail and calls and want someone to explain the choices. Existing beneficiaries usually reach out because a plan changed, a doctor left the network, drug costs went up, they moved, or they qualify for help through Medicaid or another special situation.
On the first call they want patience and clarity. Most want to know whether their doctors and prescriptions are covered, what they'll pay, and whether switching is worth the effort. Many are wary of high-pressure sales after the volume of marketing they receive. The agent who listens, reviews their actual medications and providers, and explains the difference between Advantage and Medigap earns trust.
Medicare leads are valuable because beneficiaries tend to stay with an agent who helps them, year after year. They're hard because timing matters: the Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 to December 7, and outside it a beneficiary generally needs an election period to change. CMS marketing rules and consent requirements apply to how these leads are contacted, so work with your FMO or compliance team on scripts and process.
