Home insurance leads come from homeowners, condo owners, landlords and renters who filled in a quote request for property coverage. Most are already insured and shopping because something changed: a renewal notice with a higher premium, a non-renewal letter, a recent purchase, or a lender asking for proof of coverage before closing. Some are new buyers with a closing date on the calendar, which makes them the most time-sensitive requests in the vertical.
On the first call they want a straight answer to one question: can you write this home at a better price or with better coverage than what they have now. Expect them to have the declarations page nearby if they're switching, and expect a short attention span. They've often requested quotes from several places, so the agent who asks smart questions and gets a real number back fastest usually wins the conversation.
What makes these leads valuable is the follow-on business. A homeowner who binds a policy is a natural candidate for auto, umbrella and life, and property policies tend to renew for years. What makes them hard is underwriting appetite. Roof age, prior claims, construction type and location can rule a risk out with your carriers, so filtering by state, ZIP, home value and claims history matters more than raw volume.
